My Coaching Philosophy
YKatrina is not simply about a physical transformation, but a life transformation, and discovering the best version of yourself isn’t simply skin deep, it’s a whole person journey from mind to body to spirit.
Katrina’s physical training and coaching journey began over 20 years ago as a spin instructor. Her passion for helping others transform their lives through physical fitness contributed to her leaving the field of engineering and moving from Alaska to Southern California to pursue an entirely new journey as a personal trainer and coach.
Though the physical fitness industry often concentrates solely on the appearance and physical elements of one’s body, Katrina knew from the very beginning that her mission to serve clients went beyond aesthetics. She developed a whole-person approach to coaching, recognizing that all body systems worked together. This is when her business “True Fitness” was born, and Katrina tailored her program to meet the unique, individual needs of her clients.
Katrina has since integrated her 6 Pillar Approach into her YKatrina Success coaching practice. Through this practice, Katrina helps clients build strong foundations, achieve their goals, and become physically, nutritionally, emotionally, relationally, spiritually, and financially fit. It is her mission to see her clients maximize their potential and live their best lives.
While her business began in name as True Fitness, Katrina’s focus always went beyond the physical body. Katrina’s “True Fitness” encompassed looking at each part of her clients’ lives through her 6 pillars, ensuring they were healthy and fit in all aspects of life. Her dedication to fitness beyond the physical body led her to rebrand to YKatrina in 2019 to expand her business in dedication and service to her clients. She continues to help clients build strong foundations to achieve their dreams and goals physically, as well as nutritionally, spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and financially.
Katrina focuses on the “why” with her clients, teaching them to listen intuitively to their bodies, understand their limits, knowing when to push and when to stop. These invaluable lessons prepare her clients for success in all areas of life.
Physical Coaching
As a personal trainer and coach, Katrina focuses first on building a strong foundation. Through muscular imbalance tests, and mobility/movement assessments, she creates detailed programs for her clients, addressing all systems of the body, ensuring each one is doing its job.
Through her detailed programs, Katrina trains clients to move better, gain strength, and increase their flexibility. This training is essential to preventing injury and keeping her clients healthy and active. Katrina also focuses on the rehabilitation of clients who have suffered prior injuries through the same detailed and individualized training plans. Her success in helping clients complete a full recovery and achieve their goals is unparalleled because of her approach to each unique client.
“For the past twenty five years, I have been working out three times a week doing cardio only. But as I approached my mid-forties, I found that it was difficult to maintain my weight without spending extra hours at the club. When I met Katrina Yniguez through the weight loss program last fall, she told me that I was working harder than necessary and that I could also maintain my weight through weight training. I was very skeptical but I thought I’d give it a try. After Katrina did a brief evaluation, she could pinpoint which muscles were weak and which ones were compensating, causing problems in my posture. We worked initially on strengthening these muscles when she realized how much pain I had in my hips. In the past two years, I spent thousands of dollars on doctors that told me to expect the pain (I was in an auto accident when I was a teenager). But after working with Katrina, she found out the main cause of my pain and worked with me to solve it. By the sixth session, my hip pain was gone. We are now working on the muscles in my body that haven’t been used in years and I am finding that it is much easier to exercise or just do daily activities now that they are getting stronger. Also to my surprise, I don’t have to work out as hard to maintain my weight. Katrina has totally changed my life with just a few training sessions. Nutritional Coaching
Any physical journey begins first with nutrition. Sustainable, long-term, lifestyle nutrition. In an industry where “fad” diets are ubiquitous, Katrina works hard to educate clients on how to create and maintain a lifestyle that promotes sustainable nutrition and a healthy relationship with food. With 20+ years of experience, Katrina has seen it all. The diets that “work” temporarily, the diets that restrict unhealthily, and the clients who are deeply affected by the failure of proper, sustainable nutrition. With compassion, Katrina helps clients make small changes over time that result in big successes long term. Instead of yo-yo dieting, her approach creates lasting results.
Partnering with the world’s leading nutritional coaching program, Katrina works with clients to achieve this often difficult and sensitive aspect of their lives. Unfortunately, poor relationships with food start at a young age, affecting the fragile minds of children, teens, and young adults. Many clients have been products of these negative relationships for years and years and have turned to expensive diets to find some kind of control.
Working with Katrina, she not only works to help repair clients’ relationships with food but helps educate and empower clients to take back their health by understanding sustainable nutrition, the components of healthy eating, and the negative physical, emotional, and financial aspects of fad diets. Without proper, sustainable nutrition, “true” fitness is impossible to achieve.
